I'm a CIMSPA certified personal trainer and nutritionist with over 23 years experience in the industry.
I began training at 16 years old. I had struggled with being overweight throughout my youth and I wanted to lose fat and build muscle. Bodybuilding quickly became my passion and I was fortunate enough to work with some fantastic coaches and mentors early on. Whilst at University I decided to qualify as a personal trainer in my spare time.
I began my career in business management upon leaving University but I carried on bodybuilding and started training people in my spare time. I soon realised that the principles I'd discovered throughout my journey could be adapted to work for others and so I set out to create what I believed would be the perfect training and nutrition regimen.
I carried on with my day job in senior management until a chance meeting with someone who trained and assessed personal trainers. We got talking about the state of personal training. It seemed that all the trainers we'd seen cared more about money than their clients goals. Cookie cutter plans were the name of the game. All clients receive the same s***ty plan regardless of their goals and that is an absolute disgrace. There is no care, no thought and it annoys me to see. I love my industry and I can't stand to see it being abused in such a way.
It was at that moment I decided to renew my qualifications and quit my, now very lucrative, job. I decided from then I wanted to give clients what they actually deserved. A trainer who cares, who takes their journey as his own. A trainer who understands that their clients pays their wages and if they don't reach the goals agreed, you have stolen their money! My clients mean everything to me. I get to know each and every client personally. I learn what makes them tick and deduce how I can push them to achieve their goals whilst managing their mental and physical wellbeing. This approach has led to a 0% injury rate and a 100% success rate.
Over the past two decades I have amassed a staggering amount of knowledge through training, studying and coaching. I have an extensive knowledge of exercise mechanics and execution, sports nutrition, anatomy and physiology and what is needed , both mentally and physically, to elicit maximum muscle growth and fat loss. I have personally trialled pretty much every way of training, and every different bodybuilding diet. I have worked very hard on my training and nutrition principles and have, through these years of personal trial and error, finally perfected a regimen that can be adapted to work for everyone. I believe strongly in this regimen and it has worked for hundred of clients, albeit adapted to the individual. I treat every client as an individual and you will never see me train two clients the exact same way.
With regards to my nutrition plans, I do not believe in restrictive diets. I believe you should enjoy food and all of my clients eat very well. My diets are not based on what you should eat. I start by working on what you want to eat and work backwards from there. I complete a full nutritional audit before I even start with my clients. My plans work because they are based upon your own eating habits and are therefore very easy to stick to!
My training is very much about intensity principles and hard working sets. I do believe in training hard but I won't kill someone who is new to the gym. There is no point starting out at 100mph and having nowhere to go. I believe in building up intensity week on week. That way my clients make improvements every single week and that's the aim of the game.
